Packers OL: David Bakhtiari, Jon Runyan, Josh Myers, Lucas Patrick, Billy Turner

Getting 2020 All-Pro LT David Bakhtiari and rookie C Josh Myers back from injury will only help to improve a Green Bay offensive line that has been excellent this season. Per ESPN, the Packers’ offensive line ranks fifth in pass block win rate (66%) and fourth in run block win rate (73%).

This unit has been able to succeed despite the offseason loss of All-Pro center Corey Linsley, as well as various injuries throughout the season.

49ers OL: Trent Williams, Laken Tomlinson, Alex Mack, Daniel Brunskill, Tom Compton

If there’s a LT in the game better than Bakhtiari, it’s Williams. Much of the rest of the offensive line, however, has struggled for the Niners. According to ESPN, they rank 14th in pass block win rate (61%), and 18th in run block win rate (70%). To have an average offensive line with an elite left tackle is fairly disappointing.

The Packers have a clear advantage on the O-Line, especially considering that they have been elite even while fighting through injuries.

Packers DL: Dean Lowry, Kenny Clark, Tyler Lancaster

Anchored by Pro Bowler Kenny Clark, the Packers’ defensive line has been solid if unspectacular this season. Clark has 48 tackles and four sacks this season. While those numbers might seem underwhelming for a Pro Bowler, Clark routinely eats up double teams, putting his teammates in positions to make plays. He’s been excellent as both a pass rusher and a run stopper.

Lowry has had a career season for the Green and Gold this year. He has 42 tackles and five sacks, and has been proficient stopping the run. Lancaster is in the midst of another disappointing season, only managing 31 tackles and no sacks.

The Packers’ defensive line has done enough to not hurt the team, but will not be a strength for Green Bay in the playoffs.

49ers DL: Arik Armstead, Kentavius Street, D.J. Jones, Nick Bosa

Pro Bowler Nick Bosa leads a Niners defensive line that may be the biggest strength of their team. Bosa has been transcendent this season, amassing 52 tackles and 15.5 sacks. Running mate Arik Armstead has been almost as impressive, with 63 tackles and six sacks. Nose tackle D.J. Jones has been an excellent run stopper, with 56 tackles and two sacks. Kentavius Street has a smaller role than the other three, but has still managed to collect 27 tackles and three sacks on the year.

This 49ers defensive line is dangerous, and something Packers head coach Matt LaFleur will have nightmares planning for. Expect the battle in the trenches between the Niners D-Line and the Packers O-Line to play a critical role in Saturday’s game.
