As Aaron Rodgers slowly walked off the field following the Green Bay Packers‘ early playoff exit to the San Francisco 49ers in Saturday night’s divisional round, it sure felt like the end of an era.
Whether or not this turns out to be the end for Rodgers in Green Bay remains to be seen. He did say postgame that he doesn’t want to be part of a rebuild, but how can it be anything other than that with the Packers given their salary-cap situation?
Like a year ago, the beautiful mystery continues. Rodgers decided to stay in Green Bay for another season, but is this the end?
If Rodgers wants to keep playing — we can’t rule out retirement — maybe it will be elsewhere. The benefit of a trade for the Packers is they would get significant cap savings while also being able to bring back draft picks and/or players in a potential deal.
