Packers could lose another offensive coach this offseason
The Green Bay Packers lost their popular offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett, who will reportedly become head coach of the Denver Broncos.
But Hackett might not be the only important member of the offensive coaching staff out the door. Offensive line coach Adam Stenavich could follow Hackett.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Broncos will request to interview Stenavich for their offensive coordinator job. He would be part of Hackett’s staff and make a step up from his current position in Green Bay.
The Packers also need a new offensive coordinator with Hackett gone, so maybe Stenavich will be in contention for promotion in Green Bay. However, Rapoport wrote that QBs coach Luke Getsy is “the prime candidate to take over” from Hackett as the Packers’ offensive coordinator.
If Getsy is promoted to offensive coordinator, Stenavich could have the opportunity to take a step up in his career by moving to Denver.
It would be a tough blow for Matt LaFleur’s coaching staff losing both Hackett and Stenavich in the same offseason.
Hackett had a vital role as the offensive coordinator, helping the Packers’ offense dominate the past two seasons. He was well respected by the team and will be tough to replace.
The same can be said of Stenavich, who helped Green Bay’s offensive line maintain a high level of play the past couple of seasons despite having to constantly reshuffle due to injury. That includes going without starters David Bakhtiari, Elgton Jenkins, Josh Myers, and Billy Turner at one stage this season.
Stenavich could be a future head coach, so taking an offensive coordinator job now would make sense. That could happen in Green Bay if LaFleur offers him the job ahead of Getsy, but if not, there’s a real possibility he could be on his way to Denver with Hackett.
