Green Bay Packers: Top 10 players of the 2021 season
A few days removed from another crushing playoff defeat at the hands of the San Francisco 49ers, it’s time to reflect back on the Green Bay Packers‘ 2021 season.
It was a season ravaged by injuries and sweetened by underdogs, but ultimately it will be remembered as the year the Packers went all-in and still came up short.
You could make a case that any of these players could have made the Pro Bowl, which is a testament to just how good this team truly was. There are very few other teams in the league with the same level of individual talent.
10. Elgton Jenkins
Had it not been for an ACL injury that ended Jenkins’ season early, he would have a legitimate case for the top three on this list.
Jenkins stepped into left tackle — a position he hadn’t played in full since 2016 — and immediately became one of the premier blindside protectors in the NFL.
It was easy to forget about Jenkins when all the other injured stars were coming back in January, but he was an extremely valuable loss for the Packers down the stretch. Let’s hope his ACL recovery goes smoother than David Bakhtiari’s.
9. Adrian Amos
Amos is one of those guys who never gets as much credit as he deserves. While the play of fellow safety Darnell Savage fell off a little towards the end of the season, Amos remained rock solid from start to finish.
He may not make the same impact plays that you see out of Derwin James or Kevin Byard, but you could argue Amos hasn’t had a single bad game since he arrived in Green Bay in 2019.
Amos still has an extra year left on his contract but he’s a candidate for an extension this offseason which would help to relieve the immediate cap situation, and at 28 years old he still has a lot of good football left in him.
