A recent mock draft from NFL Mocks sees the Packers trade Aaron Rodgers to the Broncos before landing one of the top wide receivers in the class.

Can you imagine the year the Green Bay Packers finally use a first-round selection on a wide receiver, that pick comes from trading away Aaron Rodgers?

Well, that scenario became a reality in a recent mock draft by Kyle Edmond of NFL Mocks.

Edmond has put together a fun mock featuring a bunch of trades, and that includes a few from the Packers.

Mock draft: Packers trade Aaron Rodgers, land top wide receiver

In Edmond’s mock draft, the Packers trade Aaron Rodgers to the Denver Broncos. Green Bay receives Denver’s ninth overall pick “among many others”. With this pick, the Packers select Arkansas wide receiver Treylon Burks.

Green Bay then trades down twice from No. 28 and out of the first round.

Wide receiver could be a big priority for Green Bay this year with Davante Adams, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, and Allen Lazard among a long list of free agents at the position.

If Rodgers is gone, there’s also the possibility Adams also departs in the offseason. It would then be important for GM Brian Gutekunst to find the team’s next number one wide receiver for new starting quarterback Jordan Love.

It’s easy to see why Burks is one of the top wide receivers in this year’s draft class.

NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah has Burks 11th in his draft rankings, writing that he “will need some time to develop, but he has A.J. Brown-type upside”.

With Rodgers gone and the Packers entering rebuild mode, bringing in a talented, young wide receiver to develop alongside Jordan Love could be a good move for the future.

In this mock, Green Bay also traded out of the first round. Along with the Rodgers trade, the team would have a boatload of picks to work with later on, which would be ideal for a rebuilding team.
