In the coming weeks, Aaron Rodgers will make a decision on his future.

We’ll soon find out whether he plans to play for the Green Bay Packers in 2022, request a trade, or retire. Until Rodgers makes that decision, we’ll never know with any certainty.

But it seems evident Rodgers’ relationship with the Packers’ front office has improved. When the team agreed to void the final year of his contract last summer, it seemed a near certainty he would be gone this offseason.

Well, maybe not so much now. Speaking on “Super Bowl Live”, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport gave an update on Aaron Rodgers’ situation.

“He got the award, we all knew he would be the MVP. What I did not know was that he was going to go up there and thank Brian Gutekunst by name, Mark Murphy by name,” Rapoport said. “It was a sign of all the work that they have done in the Packers organization to get him on the same page as them, to work with him, to keep him informed, to value his opinion.”

It was certainly noteworthy that Rodgers actually named both Brian Gutekunst and Mark Murphy in his MVP speech. Rodgers usually chooses his words very carefully, so it’s hard not to believe he named them for good reason.

Rapoport would then speak about how things stand with Rodgers and the Packers.

“He has not made his decision and we’ll see what ends up happening, but there is a lot of good feelings right now between Aaron Rodgers and Green Bay,” Rapoport added.

Again, we won’t know for sure what’s next until Rodgers makes a decision. But it sure seems he’s in a better place with the front office than a year ago, and that’s significant. That could make all the difference when it comes to Rodgers’ decision on where he wants to play, should he commit to the 2022 season.

So, we wait.

Rodgers said he won’t wait long to make a decision. The new league year is just over four weeks away. Very soon, we’ll know the MVP’s plans.
