What hurts the most about the Green Bay Packers‘ deflating divisional-round exit was the fact they had so much talent on the roster this year.

There’s a reason why the Packers earned the NFC’s top seed. In the regular season, they defeated both the Los Angeles Rams and Cincinnati Bengals, who battled in the Super Bowl. They also picked up victories over the San Francisco 49ers and Arizona Cardinals.

Unfortunately, we all know how it ended.

Green Bay had a number of star performances this season, so it’s no surprise to see the team have seven players featured in Pro Football Focus’ top 101 players of 2021 rankings.

Green Bay’s seven players in the top 101 were: Wide receiver Davante Adams (No. 5), quarterback Aaron Rodgers (No. 18), edge rusher Rashan Gary (No. 34), inside linebacker De’Vondre Campbell (No. 40), running back AJ Dillon (No. 65), running back Aaron Jones (No. 82), and edge rusher Preston Smith (No. 92).

Some of those seven players face uncertain futures this offseason.

Davante Adams is an unrestricted free agent next month. It will be interesting to see whether the Packers use the franchise tag to ensure he doesn’t sign elsewhere.

Aaron Rodgers is yet to make a decision on his future. Returning to Green Bay, retiring, or requesting a trade all remains in play.

De’Vondre Campbell is a free agent this offseason. After being named a first-team All-Pro this season, re-signing him won’t be easy.

Preston Smith could be back in 2022 but the Packers will likely need to find a way to lower his cap hit, whether that’s through a contract extension or by releasing him.

Despite having so many players perform well in 2021, the Packers were unable to make the most of it, losing to the 49ers at home in the divisional round.

Keeping this talented roster together will be close to impossible this offseason.
