Round 2 (60): Kyler Gordon, CB, Washington

Cornerback isn’t getting enough attention when discussing the Packers’ potential offseason needs. That could all change if they re-sign Rasul Douglas and Chandon Sullivan in the near future, but they are both free agents along with Kevin King.

Also, there isn’t a team in the NFL that wouldn’t benefit from adding another talented cornerback. It’s such an important position.

Washington’s Kyler Gordon could be an excellent choice for the Packers in the second round. As The Draft Network’s Drae Harris notes, Gordon can play both as an outside corner or in the slot.

"“In the NFL, he has the athleticism and hips to be a starting outside corner. However, his tackling ability, instincts, and agility also project him favorably to playing inside, giving him true inside/outside flexibility.”"

Jaire Alexander typically plays on the outside for the Packers but he, too, would be great in the “star” position in Joe Barry’s defense. Having two talented young cornerbacks with the versatility to play both would be huge for the Packers.

In 12 games last season, Gordon had seven pass defenses and two interceptions.

The Packers would have an excellent young trio at cornerback. All-Pro Alexander leads the way, but second-year Eric Stokes and Gordon would both have a lot of potential. And with the versatility Alexander and Gordon both provide, the Packers’ secondary would have the potential to be special in the coming years.

Green Bay should seriously consider drafting a cornerback early.
