The Packers may have to start over at these three positions after free agency.

Green Bay Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst has a big job to do this offseason. From trying to get the Packers under the salary cap, which will require freeing up around $50 million, to also maintaining a strong roster.

Not easy.

It’s hard to say exactly what the Packers’ biggest positions of need will be. First we await Aaron Rodgers’ decision on his future, then how the team handles free agency. Who are they able to re-sign and who do they lose to other teams?

Green Bay simply can’t re-sign everybody. Many talented players will likely be playing elsewhere in 2022. And that unfortunately means that at some positions, the Packers could be rebuilding and starting over.

Right now, it’s fair to say that edge rusher, defensive tackle, and wide receiver are among the biggest offseason needs. But depending on how free agency goes, inside linebacker and cornerback could jump near the top of that list too. Likely with limited cap room even after making restructures and releases, the Packers will have to make some tough decisions.

Let’s look at three positions the Packers could lose a lot of talent at in the first week or two of free agency.
