Unrestricted free agents: De’Vondre Campbell, Oren Burks

Exclusive rights free agents: Krys Barnes

Isaiah McDuffie and Ray Wilborn are the only inside linebackers currently under contract for the 2022 season. We should expect Krys Barnes to also be back as he’s an exclusive rights free agent.

But Green Bay could easily be back to square one at inside linebacker. It was among the Packers’ biggest offseason needs a year ago, but the team waited until the sixth round before drafting McDuffie. Luckily, they signed De’Vondre Campbell in June and he would go on to have a first-team All-Pro season.

Campbell took the defense to another level. He was never far from the action and made plays in both run and pass defense. He finished the season with a career-best 146 tackles, two sacks, six quarterback hits, six tackles for loss, two interceptions, and five pass defenses.

But after such a strong season, Campbell deserves a big deal. Can Green Bay afford to pay him what he will likely be offered from other teams? I’m not so sure. Especially if the plan is to use the franchise tag on Davante Adams.

The Packers had the benefit of having Campbell put together an All-Pro season on a cheap contract, but he could now sign a big deal elsewhere.

Green Bay could also lose a core special teams player in Oren Burks.
