The Green Bay Packers made their first move to get under the 2022 salary cap, but the work is only just beginning.

According to ESPN’s Field Yates, the Packers were able to create $10.98 million by restructuring Kenny Clark’s contract.

To get under the salary cap before the deadline next month, the Packers could restructure more deals. Let’s look at three more restructures they could make.

Note: Salary cap numbers are according to Over The Cap.

David Bakhtiari

Hopefully, All-Pro left tackle David Bakhtiari will be fully healthy for the start of the 2022 season. The Packers missed their superstar offensive lineman this year.

Bakhtiari is currently set for a cap hit of $22.2 million next season, but restructuring his deal could create $8.19 million in cap space. As with all restructures, pushing money into future years comes with some risk, but if the Packers continue to restructure deals, this is one of the biggest cap savings they can make for 2022.

Adrian Amos

Possibly the best option here would be to offer Adrian Amos a new contract. Amos will be entering a contract year in 2022. Currently, Amos has one year remaining on his deal but there are also three void years after next season.

The Packers could create $4.79 million by restructuring his deal this offseason.

But considering that Amos continues to play at a high level, still has years ahead of him, and he rarely misses games, a contract extension would likely make more sense.

Billy Turner

It’s a similar situation for Billy Turner, who has one year remaining but there also are three void years on his contract following 2022.

If the Packers choose to restructure Turner’s contract, they can create $3.51 million for 2022.

Restructuring Kenny Clark’s contract is likely just the start with a few weeks remaining before the start of the new league year.
