Packers: 3 dream free-agent targets to go all-in for 2022
Three dream free-agent targets for the Packers in 2022.
We learned a lot about the short-term future of the Green Bay Packers this week. With Aaron Rodgers committing to return and Davante Adams franchise-tagged, the Packers’ Super Bowl window has been extended.
Considering Green Bay’s salary-cap issues, being active in free agency won’t be easy. But if they can work some magic with the cap, there should be a sense of urgency for this team.
Forget about trading Rodgers for a boatload of picks and hitting the reset button. The Packers have opted not to do that. Now that they have Rodgers and Adams back, the only option is to go all-in and try to bring back the Lombardi Trophy this season. Otherwise, what was the point in not trading Rodgers and franchise-tagging Adams?
Rodgers’ contract structure will be key. If the Packers are able to dramatically lower his 2022 cap number and create enough cap space to make one big signing in free agency, it could help their Super Bowl ambitions.
What would be three dream moves for the Packers in free agency this year? Three players that could help this team finally end their Super Bowl drought and make the risk of going all-in worth it?
