The Aaron Rodgers vs the Green Bay Packers fight has ended, with Rodgers winning the bout decisively. Well, when you really think about it, the Packers won big as well.
Things were hairy for awhile. On January 19, 2020 the Green Bay Packers fell to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship Game. It was a game that Green Bay was supposed to win, coming off a 13-3 mark in the regular season.
A few months later at the NFL Draft, the Packers traded up to select Utah State quarterback Jordan Love with the 26th overall pick.
Then things got worse.
Rodgers was understandably upset. The team had weaknesses to address and still had an open window to win a Super Bowl, so the Love pick stung. Then came a barrage of shade via social media and interviews.
Add in another NFC Championship Game loss the following season and a disappointing NFC Divisional loss to San Francisco this year, and it felt like the back-to-back MVP’s days in Wisconsin may be numbered.
WRONG.
Rodgers and Green Bay have reportedly agreed to a 4-year deal that’s somewhere in the $200 million range, with most of that being guaranteed.
That’s a ton of money, sure. But you could argue Rodgers is playing the best football of his career.
The Packers are 36-10 over the last three seasons, with Rodgers throwing 111 touchdowns to just 13 interceptions. He’s also thrown for 4,000+ yards in each of the last three seasons and led the NFL in Quarterback Rating each of the last two years.
