Packers free agency predictions 2022: Who re-signs, who is gone?
With free agency opening this week, we predict which Packers free agents are re-signed and who walks.
It’s the calm before the storm. A huge week is ahead for the Green Bay Packers. Before the beginning of the new league year on Wednesday, the Packers must get under the salary cap, clearing over $40 million in cap space.
They must also determine which free agents they plan to re-sign and attempt to work out long-term deals with those players.
It also means that a number of Packers free agents will be heading out the door this week and signing with new teams.
Which players will Green Bay be able to re-sign? Who will be moving on? Let’s go through each of the Packers’ 13 unrestricted free agents and predict who stays and who walks.
Lucas Patrick: Walks
Josh Myers’ injury gave Lucas Patrick the opportunity to prove his versatility and starting ability, and he did in a big way. Patrick was excellent as the starting center in Myers’ absence, and he then shifted back to guard in time for the playoffs.
When at full strength, Green Bay’s starting five will most likely be David Bakhtiari, Elgton Jenkins, Myers, Jon Runyan, and Billy Turner. It’s far from a guarantee that Patrick will be more than a backup in Green Bay.
Another team will pay him to start.
