Return of the Jedi? Return of the MVP? Return of the champion? Return of the unanimous first-ball Hall-of-Famer? Return of the Mount Rushmore QB? Whichever one of those phrases you would like to use, they would all be 100% accurate. Aaron Rodgers’ new contract became official today, via the Green Bay Packers’ official site.

Essentially, it is a two-year extension worth $124 million. With No. 12 still having one year left on his old deal and with the Packers and Rodgers agreeing to have two void years at the end of the contract, the complete deal could amount to five years worth $186 million.

Aaron Rodgers is back. The entire NFL, especially the NFC North, is whatever hypothetical scared WWE figure. Mr. Rodgers is The Undertaker.

What does his return mean for the Packers offense and head coach Matt LaFleur? Simple. Only great things. Arguably the greatest QB of all time is back. LaFleur and Rodgers have arguably the best HC-QB bond in the game.

Together, they’ve taken the team to two NFC Championships. They’ve had three straight 13-win seasons. Rodgers has won two MVPs and made three Pro Bowls with LaFleur as his head coach in three seasons. LaFleur should already have a Coach of the Year award.

This Packers offense has gotten better and become more complete every single season. Rodgers and the best WR in the league, Davante Adams, are the undisputed best QB-WR combo in the game. It’s not close. Rodgers makes every player around him better.

He also knows how to encourage his teammates when they drop a pass or miss a block. Once in a while, the camera will even catch him talking to his defensive teammates making sure they know he has their back.

He and the coaches are so close too. There was a great scene last season after Mason Crosby kicked the game-winner in San Francisco in Week 3. The Packers’ social media department was filming Rodgers. After Crosby booted the ball through the uprights, Rodgers hugged DC Joe Barry.

Why would he do that? He doesn’t play defense. He did it because he loves the people on this team. He and the front office are in a great spot. Rodgers has acknowledged how much he appreciates GM Brian Gutekunst involving him in certain conversations about the team. Their relationship has grown tremendously over the past few years.

This franchise has always been better with Aaron Rodgers leading it. If there is anyone that doesn’t think that, they are living under a rock. He will be going into his 18th season at the helm.

That is more than Packers legends Bart Starr and Brett Favre. The Green Bay Packers’ Super Bowl window is wide open. At minimum, they have three years. This team is going to run through the NFC North once again. They will have a top-three seed in the NFC playoffs and could very easily grab the No. 1 seed for the third straight season.

With Aaron Rodgers back, this Packers team is at the forefront of the Super Bowl conversation.
