3 moves Packers must make after Davante Adams trade
Three moves the Packers must make after trading Davante Adams.
It truly has been a fascinating offseason around the NFL, and the Green Bay Packers made one of the biggest blockbuster trades of the year by trading away All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams. It’s a head-scratcher for the Packers in an all-in year but there is a positive way to look at it.
While the Packers have lost an irreplaceable player in Adams, what they have gained is two top draft picks from the Las Vegas Raiders, as well as around $20 million in cap space. Green Bay now has two first-rounders and two second-rounders to work with, along with enough cap room to make some moves in free agency.
And it seems the Packers are wasting little time in using that extra cap space. According to ESPN’s Dianna Russini, the Packers are expected to sign Rasul Douglas once the Adams trade is official. Re-signing Douglas is huge for Green Bay’s defense.
So, what else could GM Brian Gutekunst do with the added cap space and draft picks? Replacing Adams at wide receiver will be difficult, but with the extra resources, Gutekunst can strengthen Green Bay’s roster in other ways.
With Douglas reportedly on his way back, let’s look at three other moves the Packers need to make.
