3. Bring back Za’Darius Smith

Is this likely? Perhaps not. But that doesn’t mean it’s impossible.

Remember when Za’Darius Smith was reportedly on his way back to the Baltimore Ravens? Well, apparently not. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported on Thursday that Smith isn’t signing his deal with the Ravens and will instead remain a free agent.

What if the Packers decide to make him a similar offer to the one he was planning to sign in Baltimore? Would he consider a return to Green Bay? Only Smith knows the answer to that, but it sure would help Joe Barry’s defense.

With Smith back alongside Preston Smith and Rashan Gary, edge rusher would no longer be a top priority for the Packers in the draft. With Za’Darius Smith healthy, the Packers’ pass rush could be the best we’ve seen in some time. The Smith Bros. were outstanding together in 2019, but Gary was a rookie that year. He has since become the team’s top pass rusher.

Again, this one may be a long shot. However, if the Packers are able to use the additional cap space from the Adams trade to make a couple of big moves in free agency, they could strengthen the roster prior to the draft, where they would have four picks inside the top two rounds.
