Draft: Packers should target Treylon Burks

In recent years, we’ve seen a number of rookie wide receivers make an instant impact. Justin Jefferson and Ja’Marr Chase have both made incredible starts to their NFL careers.

Treylon Burks out of Arkansas could be the next to have a breakout rookie season.

NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah believes that Burks has “A.J. Brown-type upside”, and has him 14th in his prospect rankings for the 2022 NFL Draft.

Now that the Packers have both the No. 22 and No. 28 picks in the first round, they have every chance to land one of the top wide receivers in the draft. Whether that’s by waiting to see who’s still there at No. 22 or by moving up, Burks could be a realistic option for the Packers.

There are many directions the Packers could go at wide receiver in the draft, but Burks could quickly become a go-to target for Aaron Rodgers and would be a great pick on Day 1.

Burks is 6-foot-3, 225 pounds and can win 50/50 balls. He could also help the Packers’ red-zone offense improve — Burks caught 18 touchdowns in his final two seasons at Arkansas.

Realistically, the Packers will need to both sign or trade for a veteran wide receiver and use an early pick at the position. If they could add a veteran like Beckham or Burks and pair him with Burks, look out.
