Excuse me? The Green Bay Packers are doing what?! No, this is not a typo. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Packers are trading All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders.

According to Schefter, the Packers will receive “two prime 2022 picks” in return.

The Packers are making a huge mistake.

If the plan is to trade Davante Adams, why pay Aaron Rodgers? Why pay De’Vondre Campbell? Why keep Randall Cobb? Why push money into future years in the name of going all-in, only to then trade away your best player not named Aaron Rodgers?

The same Davante Adams who just happens to be the best wide receiver in the NFL. The same Davante Adams who has been a first-team All-Pro two years in a row and is a five-time Pro Bowler. In the prime of his career.

This offseason, the Packers either had to go all-in or they had to hit the reset button. Until this point, it sure looked like they were going with the former. To run it back, not worry about the future, and do everything they can to bring the Lombardi Trophy home.

But now they’ve traded away one of their most important players who they needed to achieve that goal.

Make this make sense.

What we don’t yet know are the details of this trade. What are the Packers getting in return?

But even if the Packers land the Raiders’ first-round pick, which we can assume is a given, then turn that into one of the best wide receivers in the class, was that worth it for Davante Adams? There’s no way Adams’ replacement will get close to his level in 2022.

This might just be the biggest shock of the offseason, especially after committing to Rodgers and going all-in for 2022.

One has to wonder what Rodgers’ reaction will be to this.
