Packers receive two top picks in Davante Adams trade
The Packers received picks in the opening two rounds from the Raiders as part of the Davante Adams trade.
For the Green Bay Packers to trade away the best wide receiver in football, they would need a strong offer.
They got exactly that.
According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Las Vegas Raiders sent picks in the first and second rounds to the Packers for Adams. That’s the No. 22 and No. 53 overall picks.
Green Bay may have lost its All-Pro wide receiver, but it does at least have plenty of top draft picks to work with next month. That will help find some potential impact players for another Super Bowl push in 2022.
The Packers will have a lot of picks to work with.
Packers’ draft picks after Davante Adams trade
- Round 1, Pick 22 (from Raiders)
- Round 1, Pick 28
- Round 2, Pick 53 (from Raiders)
- Round 2, Pick 59
- Round 3, Pick 92
- Round 4, Pick 132
- Round 4, Pick 140 (compensatory pick)
- Round 5, Pick 171
- Round 7, Pick 228 (from Bears through Texans)
- Round 7, Pick 249
- Round 7, Pick 258 (compensatory pick)
Eleven picks in total. That is plenty for GM Brian Gutekunst to work with, and we all know how much he loves a trade. Five picks inside the top 92 certainly helps, and it gives Green Bay the flexibility to move up.
Adding a wide receiver at some point is a must. Even if they sign a veteran via free agency or a trade, the Packers should look to draft a receiver somewhere in the opening couple of rounds. Will they pick one at No. 22, or could Gutekunst trade up to land one of his top targets?
If Gutekunst’s history as GM is anything to go by, the Packers may not end up picking 11 players. He does love to trade up and isn’t afraid to make a bold move or two. He now has plenty of picks to make another big move happen.
