Future Hall-of-Fame WR and free agent Julio Jones is currently in the process of looking for a new team. Heck, the phrase that should be used is “deciding between teams” considering he is one of the greatest receivers in NFL history and should have a great market. The Green Bay Packers should be in the running.

Not that Jones desperately needs to choose them but because Green Bay desperately needs him. And they need to show Jones why he should sign with them.

Let’s just start with this.

Julio Jones is a seven-time Pro Bowler, a five-time All-Pro, and a member of the 2010 All-Decade Team. He is arguably the greatest WR of this current era. At 6-foot-3, 220 lbs, he is an absolute freak.

In 11 career seasons, he has eclipsed 1,100 yards seven times, including six-straight with Atlanta from 2014-2019. The best season of Jones’ career came in 2015. He had 136 receptions for 1,871 yards and eight touchdowns. He followed that season with 83 catches, 1,409 yards and six touchdowns in just 14 games.

Do you know who the QB coach of the Atlanta Falcons was in both of those seasons? Matt LaFleur. Not only did he coach Matt Ryan to an MVP, but Jones was named a first-team All-Pro in 2015 and 2016. That’s not a coincidence.

The Falcons were the best offense in the NFL in 2016 en route to a Super Bowl appearance. Jones had an unbelievable career in Atlanta with a Hall-of Fame-type of QB in Matt Ryan and with a brilliant offensive mind in Matt LaFleur as an offensive assistant.

With Green Bay trading Davante Adams, they are now in need of a top-level receiver who can gain the trust of QB Aaron Rodgers immediately.

After a down, injury-plagued season with Tennessee, Jones is looking for a bounce-back year. Why not do it with a coach who he had so much success with and an undisputed, first-ballot Hall-of-Fame QB?

Jones would immediately boost the level of Green Bay’s WR corps. He would give Rodgers and the offense an athlete on the outside who will have the advantage over almost any CB due to his combination of size and speed that is definitely still there.

The only thing Jones is missing in his illustrious career is a Super Bowl ring. The Packers have a Super Bowl roster. They just need a few more playmakers. Julio is the definition of that.

Don’t forget, the Packers have dominated the NFC North for the majority of the last 30 years. They have won the NFC North three straight years. With Aaron Rodgers back in the fold for at least another three seasons, this team will continue to be contenders.

But this squad needs some win-now players. Julio Jones is still a big-time player. He is still one of the best in the game. He will be healthy going into 2022. If Green Bay can convince Jones to come to northeast Wisconsin, the Packers have to be considered the favorites to go to the Super Bowl from the NFC.
