Round 3 (69): Jalen Tolbert, WR, South Alabama

Even after going wide receiver in the second round, the Packers will need to double-down at the position this offseason. One player being overlooked is South Alabama’s Jalen Tolbert.

Tolbert is one of the best deep threats in this year’s wide receiver class, something the Packers need after losing Marquez Valdes-Scantling to the Kansas City Chiefs.

NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein compared Tolbert to Marvin Jones. Keith Sanchez of The Draft Network wrote that “Tolbert has the speed to be a vertical threat and also has the strength and size to become a good run-after-catch receiver”.

A combination of Christian Watson and Jalen Tolbert could be a lot of fun. Both players would add much-needed speed to the Packers’ offense.

Tolbert is a good route-runner and Aaron Rodgers would be able to find him deep down the field regularly. According to his Pro Football Focus draft profile, Tolbert had 16 deep receptions in 2021, ranking fifth in college football. Impressive.

If Tolbert is still on the board in the third round, it would be no surprise if the Packers pick him. He’s exactly the type of wide receiver they need and, on Day 2, this would be great value for Green Bay. Tolbert could be a steal in the third round.
