Round 2 (53): Trey McBride, TE, Colorado State

The Packers have reportedly met with multiple tight ends ahead of the draft, which isn’t all that surprising. Many top receivers like Christian Watson and George Pickens were gone, but Green Bay still gets Aaron Rodgers another talented pass-catcher in the second round.

Trey McBride could immediately contribute in the receiving game. He put up 1,121 receiving yards in just 12 games at Colorado State last season. But he is also a talented blocker.

“His next-level blocking ability should make him highly sought after come draft day,” wrote Pro Football Network’s Oliver Hodgkinson.

Looking beyond 2022, Robert Tonyan and Marcedes Lewis hit free agency next year. McBride can be the future TE1.

Round 2 (59): Nik Bonnito, EDGE, Oklahoma

Incredible value here with Oklahoma’s Nik Bonnito still on the board at No. 59.

It wouldn’t be surprising one bit if the Packers drafted an edge rusher at No. 22 overall. But even if they don’t, Bonnito on Day 2 would make a lot of sense.

“If he adds some strength, he could emerge as a Pro Bowl talent,” noted NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah.

Bonnito would make a great third edge rusher in Joe Barry’s defense behind Rashan Gary and Preston Smith in year one. In time, he could become an excellent starter next to Gary.

The Packers need to get pass-rush help in the draft. Bonnito can provide that.
