Terry McLaurin would make Packers offense scary
There are three ways the Green Bay Packers can address their need at wide receiver: Draft, free agency, or trade.
Washington Commanders receiver Terry McLaurin joins a list of players that includes D.K. Metcalf, Deebo Samuel, and A.J. Brown, who have all been rumored to be on the trading block.
The reason those players have been rumored to be on the block is that they are looking for a large extension. McLaurin is a very exciting, young player that can take on some of the major responsibilities that Davante Adams held in his time in Green Bay.
In his last two seasons, the former Ohio State Buckeye has eclipsed 1,000 yards on over 130 targets. He has over 3,000 yards receiving yards in just his three career seasons in Washington.
His 13.9 yards per reception is massive proof that he is a big-play threat every single time he steps foot on that field.
He has only fumbled once in 46 career games. No. 17 is extremely sure-handed. His 222 career receptions are extremely impressive considering he has caught passes from six different quarterbacks.
His route-running is completely overlooked mostly because Washington hasn’t necessarily been a juggernaut. But make no mistake about it, McLaurin is an absolute stud.
He can line up anywhere. Heck, he has three career rushing attempts for 42 yards. Whenever he gets the ball, explosive plays happen. Do not let his size fool you. Standing at 6-foot, 210 lbs, the Indianapolis native has 4.3 speed and elite footwork. His jump-ball abilities are nothing to doubt either. He is a top-tier playmaker.
The best way for the Packers offense to become deeper and more dangerous is to replace Davante Adams with a committee.
Terry McLaurin is a true No. 1 receiver. He can handle those responsibilities with ease. If Green Bay were to swing a trade with Washington for McLaurin in exchange for one of their first-round picks and maybe another mid-to-late-round pick, they would be in great shape.
It would make sense for the Packers. They are also not in Washington’s division. Adding him to a core of true pros in Randall Cobb and Allen Lazard, plus with the Packers most likely using their other first-round pick on a talented rookie receiver, the franchise could be in great shape by training camp.
I didn’t even mention the team dipping into free agency and possibly bringing in Julio Jones. But getting Aaron Rodgers a star in Terry McLaurin would be a dynamite move by GM Brian Gutekunst. It would be a win-now move.
