Packers 2022 mock draft roundup: George Pickens in first round?
Little over a week away from the 2022 NFL Draft, it’s almost time for the Green Bay Packers to not pick a wide receiver in the first round.
Time will tell whether the Packers do end their two-decade streak of not picking a WR in the first round.
If this mock draft roundup is anything to go by, this is finally the year.
NFL Mocks
George Pickens, WR, Georgia and Tyler Smith, OL, Tulsa
Hunter Haas of NFL Mocks has the Packers going all offense on Day 1 of the draft.
Few could argue that George Pickens would be a great fit in Green Bay’s offense. He has great size and physicality, and he is also a strong blocker. The Packers would love that.
With wide receiver addressed first, it would make sense to bolster the offensive line depth later in the first round.
Pro Football Focus
George Pickens, WR, Georgia and Jermaine Johnson II, EDGE, Florida State
This would be a dream first round for the Packers.
In Sam Monson’s latest mock draft for Pro Football Focus, Green Bay leaves Day 1 with Pickens and edge rusher Jermaine Johnson II.
Pickens would be a great fit, as discussed above.
Some draft analysts believe Johnson will go in the top 10. If he was somehow still there at No. 28, the Packers have to pick him, right?
The Draft Network
Drake London, WR, USC and Boye Mafe, EDGE, Minnesota
It’s hard not to love this mock.
Kyle Crabbs of The Draft Network has USC receiver Drake London falling to No. 22. London is arguably the best pass catcher in the class. His catch radius is so big he could make Mitch Trubisky look like an MVP.
Crabbs also has Green Bay getting some much-needed pass-rush help with Minnesota’s Boye Mafe. I’m a big fan of Mafe. He is just what the Packers need.
CBS Sports
Treylon Burks, WR, Arkansas and Chris Olave, WR, Ohio State
This mock draft by Ryan Wilson of CBS Sports would please the majority of Packers fans.
Green Bay doubles down at receiver by drafting both Treylon Burks and Chris Olave. It’s hard not to love this pairing.
With Burks’ physicality and yards-after-catch ability, and Olave’s speed and smooth route-running, this pair would add a lot to the Packers’ offense.
