Packers four-round mock draft: Dream scenario with multiple trades
Round 2 (38): George Pickens, WR, Georgia
After passing on wide receivers in the first round, Green Bay wastes little time on Day 2.
George Pickens has the size, athleticism, and physicality the Packers covet. He has excellent ball skills and is a great blocker. The latter can’t be said of all of the top receiver prospects this year.
Put all that together, and you’ve got an ideal wide receiver for the Packers. Pickens to Green Bay would make a lot of sense.
Round 2 (41): Christian Watson, WR, North Dakota State
Brian Gutekunst often doubles down at positions of need, and he does so again in this mock draft. But to land North Dakota State’s Christian Watson, it may require trading up from No. 53.
Green Bay sends the third-rounder it received from Kansas City to the Seattle Seahawks, jumping up to No. 41 to get Watson.
Watson is another phenomenal athlete, scoring a 10-out-of-10 RAS. He has great size at 6-foot-5, 208 pounds, and the speed to stretch defenses vertically.
Pickens and Watson both have WR1 potential. The Packers get both of them in this mock draft.
Round 2 (59): Christian Harris, LB, Alabama
The Packers give De’Vondre Campbell some help at inside linebacker here with Alabama’s Christian Harris.
NFL Network’s Bucky Brooks ranked him third among linebackers in the class, writing that “Harris is a sideline-to-sideline playmaker with outstanding instincts, awareness and tackling ability”.
This is not the most significant need for the Packers. However, with many of the top safeties off the board, strengthening the middle of the defense made sense here.
