The Packers’ wide receiver trio of Sammy Watkins, Allen Lazard, and Randall Cobb has been ranked as one of the worst in the NFL.

The Green Bay Packers need help at wide receiver. That is no secret.

Robert Mattox of NFL Spin Zone has ranked every wide receiver trio in the NFL. The Packers come in at No. 31, ahead of only the Atlanta Falcons’ trio of Olamide Zaccheaus, Damiere Byrd, and KhaDarel Hodge.

Even had the Packers retained Davante Adams and Marquez Valdes-Scantling, adding another pass-catcher likely would’ve been near the top of the to-do list this spring.

But now the Packers will be looking to replace both.

Adams is one of the top-two wide receivers in football, and he ain’t two. MVS is one of the best deep threats in the league.

Green Bay has signed veteran Sammy Watkins. That helps. But a lot of work still needs to be done.

The good news is there is plenty of time between now and the beginning of the regular season.

There’s a little event called the NFL Draft next week. The Packers will have a great opportunity to strengthen their wide receiver corps with two picks in the first round and two more in the second.

Despite avoiding the position on Day 1 over the past two decades, it will come as no surprise if Green Bay leaves the draft with a wide receiver like Treylon Burks, Chris Olave, George Pickens, or Christian Watson. Maybe more than one.

So, yes, Green Bay’s current top-three at wide receiver ranks near the bottom in the league.

Chances are they won’t rank top-five anytime soon, either. But with the draft to come, free agents still available, and the possibility of a trade always there, the Packers have plenty of time to put it right.
