Eight receptions, 179 yards, two touchdowns. That is what Arkansas wide receiver Treylon Burks did to the Alabama Crimson Tide defense last November.

The 6-foot-2, 225-pound receiver caught 66 passes for 1,104 yards and 11 touchdowns and earned first-team All-SEC honors this past season.

It’s that kind of production and size that has the Arkansas native in prime position to become a first-round pick next Thursday in Las Vegas at the 2022 NFL Draft.

The Green Bay Packers are not only in need of receivers, but they are in need of big receivers.

Allen Lazard is the team’s only impact WR that stands above 6-foot-1 (he is 6-foot-5).

Sammy Watkins is 6-1. Randall Cobb is 5-10. Amari Rodgers is 5-9. Juwann Winfree is 6-1.

Drafting Burks would provide Aaron Rodgers with another big target who has produced at a very high level in the most competitive conference in all of college football.

He set the Arkansas school record for 100-yard games with six in 2021. He also has experience returning kicks and punts. Burks averaged 22.6 yards per kick return and 10.8 yards per punt return, which would be a welcome sight for the Packers’ special teams unit.

Being able to run a 4.5-second 40-yard dash while standing well above six feet and weighing 225 pounds is ridiculous.

His route-running is smooth. His ability to track the ball in the air is elite. That is due to the fact that he was an All-State baseball player in high school.

Think of Burks as a cross between A.J. Brown and Deebo Samuel. He is a true athlete that can do multiple things very well. He has the size and speed to be a dangerous threat in Matt LaFleur’s offense. With Aaron Rodgers throwing him the ball, he’ll get better every single day.

Green Bay currently sits at No. 22 and No. 28 in the draft order. They have the ammunition to trade up.

There are some receiver-needy teams in front of them like the New York Jets and New Orleans Saints. If GM Brian Gutekunst wants him, he will definitely consider trading up for him.

Burks could be a solid addition to a receiver room that has experience and hunger. He would bring more production and size to a team that desperately needs it, however.
