Notre Dame safety Kyle Hamilton is viewed by many as one of the top defensive prospects in the 2022 NFL Draft, but is there a slight possibility he falls into the Green Bay Packers‘ trade range?

According to Tony Pauline of Pro Football Network, he could fall into the 15-20 range.

“Many in the league tell me they think Hamilton ends up somewhere between picks 15 to 20,” Pauline wrote.

That would be a real shock as he is considered a top-10 pick in many mock drafts.

So, what if Hamilton did make it to No. 15 overall? When would it make sense for Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst to pick up the phone and make a trade offer?

Green Bay owns two first-round picks, the first at No. 22. A move into the top 20 wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibility.

To trade up to No. 15, the Packers could offer the No. 22 pick and one of its two second-rounders. It would be expensive to move up, but Hamilton may be worth it.

NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein compared him to Kam Chancellor and noted that “Hamilton has the traits and football character to transition from standout college moments to a standout pro career as a future Pro Bowler with All-Pro potential.”

Hamilton would fix the Packers’ need at safety.

One option would be for Hamilton to start next to Adrian Amos with Darnell Savage taking on a bigger role in the slot. Hamilton can also play in the slot.

In three seasons at Notre Dame, Hamilton made 138 tackles, 16 pass defenses, and eight interceptions. He has the potential to become a special player in the NFL.

Hamilton could easily go inside the top 10. If not, he may go at No. 11 to the Washington Commanders.

But what if he did fall to No. 15 or beyond? At what stage would it make sense for the Packers to trade up for him?
