Packers pull off huge trade in 2022 three-round mock draft
Round 2 (59): Jalen Tolbert, WR, South Alabama
Doubling down at wide receiver should be a consideration for the Packers. They get a fantastic duo with Pickens and South Alabama’s Jalen Tolbert in this mock draft.
After the first-round trade, the Packers no longer own the No. 53 overall selection but get to pick in the second round at No. 59 overall. Here, Tolbert would be a great choice.
A good route-runner, Tolbert is another receiver who could contribute as a rookie. That is exactly what the Packers need.
NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein picked Marvin Jones as Tolbert’s NFL comparison, and he had high praise for the South Alabama wide receiver. Zierlein wrote:
"“His traits, talent and production should push him up the board, and dialing up the competitive spirit could turn him into a top-flight WR2.”"
Tolbert is an excellent deep threat, something the Packers need after losing Marquez Valdes-Scantling in free agency.
According to Pro Football Focus, Tolbert had 16 deep receptions in 2021, ranking fifth in all of college football.
After losing Davante Adams and MVS, the Packers need to add talent to the wide receiver corps. Unless they make a blockbuster trade for a star like DK Metcalf or AJ Brown, new additions will come via the draft.
With George Pickens and Jalen Tolbert, Brian Gutekunst could be delighted with his work in the opening two rounds.
