The Packers need pass catchers. That includes wide receivers, but adding a dominant tight end would also help this offense.

According to Aaron Nagler of Cheesehead TV, the Packers are interested in trading for Las Vegas Raiders Pro Bowl tight end Darren Waller.

Waller has two 1,000-yard seasons over the past three years. He was well on his way to another in 2021 but missed seven games in the regular season.

Waller has been dominant as Derek Carr’s top target in recent years. With the Raiders trading for former Packers wide receiver Davante Adams, maybe Green Bay can bring back a receiver from Las Vegas.

Outside of Robert Tonyan’s excellent 2020 season, Green Bay has lacked a dominant tight end for many years. Waller would fix that.

And when Tonyan returns from a torn ACL, the Packers would have two excellent receiving tight ends.

Waller is one of the best tight ends in the league. He would be a huge addition for the Packers.

Wide receiver would still be a need in the draft, but if the Packers could get Waller for a second-round pick, they would still have plenty of opportunities to find Aaron Rodgers more help.

If a deal can be agreed for Waller, it would be a big first step in adding receiving talent for the Packers.
