ESPN analyst Mike Clay has graded each position group for every team in the NFL following the 2022 NFL Draft. The Green Bay Packers sit top of his rankings.
Clay’s grades give a good overall look at the NFL.
Where each team is strongest and weakest, and which teams have the most rounded rosters. The Packers certainly do.

Packers offense ranked seventh, defense second
What stands out here is that Green Bay’s offense ranks second.
Packers fans have become used to the offense carrying this team with the defense just needing to be solid.
This year, there’s a real possibility Joe Barry’s defense is the team’s biggest strength.
And for good reason. As Clay’s grades show, the Packers are loaded on this side of the ball at each position group. They are particularly deep along the defensive line and cornerback.
Green Bay’s defense is loaded with high draft picks.
Along the defensive line, Kenny Clark and Devonte Wyatt were first-rounders by the Packers. Free-agent addition Jarran Reed is a former second-rounder.
At edge rusher, Rashan Gary was a first-round pick by Green Bay. Preston Smith was a second-rounder by the Washington Commanders before signing a big deal with Green Bay in free agency.
At inside linebacker, De’Vondre Campbell just signed a huge five-year deal after an All-Pro season. Quay Walker was picked in the first round this spring.
In the secondary, Jaire Alexander, Eric Stokes, and Darnell Savage were all first-round picks. Adrian Amos signed a big deal with Green Bay in free agency.
It should be no surprise, then, if the Packers’ defense is dominant in 2022. This unit ranked ninth in the NFL last season.
Since, they have strengthened the depth along the defensive line and at inside linebacker.
On offense, Clay has Green Bay ranked seventh with its worst grades at wide receiver and tight end.
