The Green Bay Packers have consistently had one of the best offensive lines in the NFL.

That’s due to regularly drafting talented, versatile offensive linemen each year. And the Packers have done it again in 2022.

Once again, Green Bay’s offensive line should be among the best in the league.

Currently on the roster

David Bakhtiari, Jon Runyan, Josh Myers, Royce Newman, Elgton Jenkins, Yosh Nijman, Sean Rhyan, Zach Tom, Rasheed Walker, Cole Van Lanen, Caleb Jones, Jahmir Johnson, George Moore, Jake Hanson, Michal Menet, Cole Schneider

Offseason moves

The Packers surprisingly cut starting right tackle Billy Turner before the start of the new league year to create cap space. They then allowed versatile interior lineman Lucas Patrick to depart in free agency. He signed with the Chicago Bears.

Veteran backup Dennis Kelly signed with the Indianapolis Colts this week.

The Packers drafted three offensive linemen this spring: Sean Rhyan in the third round, Zach Tom in the fourth, and Rasheed Walker in the seventh.

Improved from 2021?

Possibly.

Assuming All-Pro left tackle David Bakhtiari is fully healthy and ready to go in Week 1, Green Bay’s offensive line will be stronger.

The Packers have lost some depth with Billy Turner and Lucas Patrick gone, but they have added some real talent in the draft.

Sean Rhyan and Zach Tom could both be starters early in their careers.

Key player

David Bakhtiari.

The Packers have missed their multi-time All-Pro in each of the past two playoff runs. If he’s healthy and back to his best, Green Bay’s offensive line gets a huge boost.

Position outlook

When fully healthy, it’s fair to say three offensive linemen and locked into the starting five: David Bakhtiari at left tackle, Josh Myers at center, and Elgton Jenkins at right tackle.

That leaves the two guard spots, and there should be plenty of competition with Jon Runyan, Royce Newman, Sean Rhyan, and Zach Tom all candidates for starting jobs.

Early in the season, we can expect the Packers to be without Jenkins as he recovers from a torn ACL.

That leaves the right tackle spot open.

Yosh Nijman is the frontrunner after impressing when the Packers needed him last season. But Rhyan and Tom both have experience at tackle.

Green Bay has a ton of talent along the offensive line with great depth. This line can be among the league’s best in 2022.
