Week 3: at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

It’s about time the Packers got a win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, right?

The two teams haven’t met since the 2020 season, when the Bucs beat the Packers twice, including in the NFC Championship Game at Lambeau Field.

At one stage this offseason, this game didn’t look as daunting. Tom Brady had retired and the end of the Bucs’ championship window looked to have arrived. Then Brady decided to come back. All of a sudden, the Buccaneers are Super Bowl contenders once again.

I like the Packers’ chances this time around.

While Tampa Bay is strong on both sides of the ball, Green Bay’s defense is the difference.

The Packers now have more strength and depth in the front seven. At defensive tackle, they have added first-round pick Devonte Wyatt and free agent Jarran Reed, who are both good at providing interior pass rush.

Green Bay lacked talent at inside linebacker the last time these teams met. They now have All-Pro De’Vondre Campbell and first-round pick Quay Walker.

The secondary struggled in the NFC title game loss to Tampa Bay. Green Bay has since drafted Eric Stokes in the first round and signed Rasul Douglas.

This Packers defense should present more problems for the Buccaneers than in 2020. It’s with defense that Green Bay will pick up a crucial road victory over Tampa Bay.

Prediction: Green Bay 21, Tampa Bay 20 (2-1)
