Packers schedule release: 5 biggest games in 2022 season
The Green Bay Packers finally know which opponents they will be facing this fall.
Their schedule is filled with plenty of intriguing matchups. They have an easier schedule than most as they will only face seven playoff teams from a season ago.
But nevertheless, it is a new season.
You have to bring your best every week. Speaking of the best, the Packers will have some big matchups against some of the league’s top teams.
Let’s dive into Green Bay’s top-five biggest games of this upcoming regular season.
Packers at Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Week 3
The Packers still have a sour taste in their mouth after what Tampa did to them twice in the 2020 season.
Tom Brady and the Bucs blew out Green Bay earlier in the season and then followed that up with a road victory over the Packers in the NFC Championship Game.
Matt LaFleur, Aaron Rodgers, and Co. will be looking to avenge those two losses. Also, these are the two greatest quarterbacks of all time in Rodgers and Brady.
It could be an NFC Championship Game preview.
Packers at Buffalo Bills – Week 8
This could be a Super Bowl preview. These are arguably the two best teams in their respective conferences, with whom a lot of people would say are the two best signal-callers in the game in Aaron Rodgers and Josh Allen.
At first glance, many might see this game as a potential shootout.
However, the Buffalo Bills’ defense, led by a talented secondary, ranked No. 1 in all of football last season. The Packers already had a top-10 defense but after this off-season, they are even more talented.
It could be a defensive slugfest.
These fan bases are two of the most passionate in sports. It’s going to be a great matchup in November on Sunday Night Football.
Packers vs. Dallas Cowboys – Week 10
These are two of the most storied franchises in the history of pro football. The Packers, however, have won five out of the last six matchups, including two playoff games.
This particular matchup is one that Packers fans have been waiting for. Mike McCarthy is finally making his return to Lambeau.
The former Packers head coach led the team to 125 wins, eight division titles, and a Super Bowl victory in his 13+ seasons on Lombardi Ave.
It will be neat to see him and Aaron Rodgers cross paths once more. They had so much success together and still have an incredible bond.
Also, remember that current players like Jaire Alexander, Aaron Jones, Randall Cobb, Kenny Clark, David Bakhtiari, Dean Lowry, and Mason Crosby were drafted when McCarthy was head coach.
Buckle up, Packers fans. It will feel like a playoff game.
Packers vs. Los Angeles Rams – Week 15
Another potential playoff preview comes to us nearly a week before Christmas as the Packers welcome the Los Angeles Rams to Lambeau Field for the third consecutive year.
The last two times these teams have met, Green Bay has won both by a combined score of 68-44. It has not been close. It will be on a Monday night just six days away from Christmas.
It could be snowing. It will be cold.
Aaron Rodgers vs. Aaron Donald is a big-time individual matchup with two of the league’s best stars. Matt LaFleur vs. Sean McVay is a head-coaching matchup of two great friends and former colleagues.
Lambeau Field will be rocking. Get your popcorn ready.
Packers at Miami Dolphins – Week 16
This is a unique matchup for many reasons. First off, these two teams will meet on Christmas Day. A Christmas Day game in Miami for the Packers will be a first-time experience for the players, coaches, and fans.
Secondly, these two teams have met three times in the last 13 years. It’s the first time they will be playing in Miami since 2014 (the Aaron Rodgers fake spike game).
Keep in mind, this could be a trap game for the Packers. The Miami Dolphins are a much-improved team.
They made notable off-season additions including hiring former San Francisco 49ers offensive assistant Mike McDaniel, signing star wide receiver Tyreek Hill, All-Pro left tackle Terron Armstead, and they added key running backs in Raheem Mostert and Sony Michel.
This game against the Dolphins could be compared to the Cincinnati game for Green Bay last season. The Bengals were an up-and-coming team, and the Packers hadn’t faced the Bengals in four years prior to that.
Miami could be desperate for a playoff berth. Green Bay could be looking towards the postseason. It’s Christmas.
The Packers are one of the NFL’s cornerstone franchises. They are a consistent team year in, year out. They are a winning team.
As such, they are always in the eye of the public. They are tied for the lead in 2022 primetime games. They have a lot of big matchups. Fasten your seatbelts, Packers fans.
