Green Bay Packers free agents Tyler Lancaster and Henry Black have signed with new teams.

The Green Bay Packers won’t be re-signing defensive tackle Tyler Lancaster or safety Henry Black this summer.

Both players were free agents but have now signed with new teams.

Lancaster signed with the Las Vegas Raiders, while Black joined the New York Giants.

Not re-signing Lancaster is unsurprising. The Packers have invested a lot into their defensive line this offseason, signing Jarran Reed then drafting Devonte Wyatt and Jonathan Ford.

Lancaster’s snap counts would likely have reduced from last season had he remained in Green Bay.

However, not re-signing Black is a little bit more surprising given the team’s lack of depth at safety.

According to Pro Football Reference, Black played on just under a quarter of Green Bay’s defensive snaps in 2021.

It is currently unclear who the Packers’ third safety will be this season. Vernon Scott could be the frontrunner as things stand. Green Bay could decide to add a veteran safety over the summer, a move that would make sense.

With Lancaster and Black signing with new teams, almost all of the Packers’ 2022 free agents have signed.

The only three remaining free agents are cornerback Kevin King, edge rusher Chauncey Rivers, and edge rusher Whitney Mercilus. Mercilus announced his retirement earlier this offseason.

Will the Packers decide to bring back either King or Rivers? They could do with some added depth at both cornerback and edge rusher, but it is unclear whether they would consider re-signing either player.

With Black signing with the Giants, who will be the team’s third safety in 2022?
