Rashan Gary has become the Green Bay Packers‘ best pass rusher, and the stats back it up.

Last season, Gary made a team-best 9.5 sacks and 28 quarterbacks. He stepped up in a full-time role with Za’Darius Smith injured.

Sack numbers don’t always tell the full story. As important is putting a quarterback under pressure.

Gary does that a lot.

Packers: Rashan Gary has one of league’s best pass-rush win rates

According to Pro Football Focus, Gary has the third-highest pass-rush win rate among edge defenders since 2020. Only Myles Garrett and T.J. Watt have a better pass-rush win rate than Gary’s 21.8 percent.

It highlights just how impressive Gary has been over the past couple of seasons. The best part for Green Bay is that he is only 24 years old and has improved each season.

Gary ranked near the top in many categories in 2021.

According to Pro Football Reference, Gary’s 47 pressures ranked fourth in the NFL and his 20 hurries ranked 20th.

The Packers may have lost to the San Francisco 49ers in the divisional round this past January, but it was by no fault of the defense. Gary was the best player on the field and the 49ers had simply no answer for him.

In that game, Gary had two sacks, three quarterback hits, and three tackles for loss. He made play after play and deserved to be on the winning team.

The good news is that the best is yet to come from Gary.

When the Packers drafted him, they knew he needed time to develop. But his hard work has paid off and he has become one of the best young defensive players in the NFL.

Gary is entering his fourth season with the Packers in 2022. It could be his best yet. Gary could be an NFL Defensive Player of the Year candidate.
