The Green Bay Packers‘ secondary performed at a high level throughout the 2021 season, even when Jaire Alexander was out due to injury.

Now imagine how good they can be with Alexander fully healthy.

The All-Pro recently became the highest-paid defensive back in the NFL. He will be a leader and star player in, potentially, one of the league’s best defenses this season.

2021 stats

Alexander only played in four games due to injury, but he started all of them. He made three pass defenses and an interception.

According to Pro Football Reference, Alexander allowed only 54.5 percent of passes to be completed in his coverage and a passer rating of 83.7.

2021 season review

When Alexander was out there, he played at a high level. Unfortunately, he suffered a shoulder injury in the Packers’ Week 4 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers. He wouldn’t return until the postseason.

Even in the playoff game, Alexander only featured in a handful of defensive snaps.

Will he make the roster?

Yes. Alexander has just become the NFL’s top-paid defensive back. He will be a key part of the Packers’ defense for many more years to come.

What to expect in 2022

As long as Alexander is healthy, we should expect him to get back to his All-Pro best.

The 2018 first-round pick has improved each season and has consistently been one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL.

This could be Alexander’s best season yet. The Packers have one of the top cornerback trios in the league, with Eric Stokes and Rasul Douglas next to Alexander. Together, they are going to make life difficult for opposing quarterbacks.

Alexander is an incredible talent and is still only 25 years old. The Packers paid him for a reason. He is one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL and his best football is still ahead of him.
