WR DK Metcalf

Another wide receiver who wants a new deal is the Seattle Seahawks’ DK Metcalf.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported last week that Metcalf wasn’t in attendance for the team’s mandatory minicamp.

Metcalf is in a similar situation to McLaurin. He is entering the final year of his rookie deal and wants a new contract. He deserves to become one of the highest-paid receivers in the NFL. He will get the contract he wants in the near future, it’s just unclear which team he will be playing for.

Speaking on “The Pat McAfee Show” on Monday, Ian Rapoport said that he would be “surprised” if Metcalf was traded but added that it was “not impossible”.

A trade could make sense for everyone involved.

The Seahawks are a rebuilding team after trading star quarterback Russell Wilson and releasing All-Pro linebacker Bobby Wagner.

Metcalf is entering the final year of his deal. The Seahawks could lose him in free agency next spring or could have to use the franchise tag to avoid that.

By trading him to Green Bay, they would likely receive at least a first-round pick in 2023, which could significantly help their rebuilding process.

The Packers would get a star wide receiver to help Matt LaFleur’s offense. Metcalf would get the contract he wants and would be playing for a contender.
