Packers: Important dates before start of 2022 season
It’s the quietest part of the year in the NFL. However, the good news is that the Green Bay Packers will report to training camp in just a couple of weeks.
The regular season is also just two months away.
Before the games get underway, there is plenty to look forward to. Let’s take a look at the important dates between now and the beginning of the season.
Packers important dates before 2022 season
Packers training camp
According to the Packers’ official website, the rookies will report to training camp on Friday, July 22, which is less than two weeks away.
The veterans will report to camp on Tuesday, July 26.
Green Bay’s first training camp practice will be held on Wednesday, July 27, and Family Night at Lambeau Field is scheduled for Friday, August 5.
Packers preseason
Green Bay will play three preseason games in August, two on the road and one at Lambeau Field. The team will play the San Francisco 49ers, New Orleans Saints, and Kansas City Chiefs.
It will be a great opportunity for the coaching staff to get a good look at the players on the roster bubble, as well as the rookies.
Here is the preseason schedule in full:
- Friday, August 12 at 7:30 p.m. CT at San Francisco 49ers
- Friday, August 19 at 7:00 p.m. CT vs. New Orleans Saints
- Thursday, August 25 at 7:00 p.m. CT at Kansas City Chiefs
Packers roster cuts
General manager Brian Gutekunst will need to have the roster down to 53 players before the start of the regular season. This will be done gradually with a few deadlines to note.
According to NFL Football Operations, the Packers must trim their roster to 85 players by August 16. They will then have one week to move down to 80 players before the August 23 deadline.
On August 30, the roster must be trimmed down to 53 players.
