Defensive line

1. Packers

The Packers are loaded up front on defense. Two-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle Kenny Clark gets some help from veteran Jarran Reed and first-round pick Devonte Wyatt. At edge rusher, the Packers have an excellent duo in Rashan Gary and Preston Smith.

Gary took a huge step in year three and could be set for a breakout 2022 season.

Depth at edge rusher is the only concern. Outside of that, the Packers have their deepest front seven in years.

2. Vikings

There’s plenty of talent in Minnesota, too.

Dalvin Tomlinson is the key player in the middle of the Vikings’ defensive line. He is an excellent run defender.

At edge rusher, the Vikings have the duo of Danielle Hunter and Za’Darius Smith. If these two can stay healthy, they may be the best pass-rushing combination in the NFL. Their recent injury history is a concern, however.

3. Lions

The Lions are building their defensive line.

Second-overall pick Aidan Hutchinson should make an immediate difference. Another rookie, Josh Paschal, could become a starter in the future. Add in defensive tackle Michael Brockers, and there is a lot to like about the Lions’ defensive line.

However, this line is probably a year or two away from reaching its potential.

4. Bears

The defensive line could be an issue for the Bears after losing star players Khalil Mack and Akiem Hicks this offseason. They will need Robert Quinn — who had 18.5 sacks in 2021 — to have another great season.
