Secondary

1. Packers

Green Bay’s starting five in the secondary is as talented as any.

The Packers’ starters will be cornerbacks Jaire Alexander, Eric Stokes, and Rasul Douglas, and safeties Adrian Amos and Darnell Savage. This can be a special group this season.

Alexander is an All-Pro, Stokes is a first-round pick coming off an impressive rookie year, and Douglas was excellent with a team-best five interceptions last season. Amos is one of the most consistent safeties in the league, while Savage is excellent in coverage.

2. Vikings

Cornerback Cameron Dantzler allowed a passer rating of just 74.7 last season, per Pro Football Reference. He also defended eight passes. Safety Harrison Smith made his sixth Pro Bowl.

The Vikings add first-round pick Lewis Cine and second-rounder Andrew Booth Jr. to this secondary.

One concern is whether 32-year-old Patrick Peterson can continue to play at a high level.

3. Bears

This secondary has potential with Jaylon Johnson, Eddie Jackson, and rookies Kyler Gordon and Jaquan Brisker. But that’s all it is at this stage.

4. Lions

The secondary is another area of concern for the Lions’ defense. Can former third overall pick Jeff Okudah finally become a great CB1 for the Lions?

According to Pro Football Reference, he gave up a passer rating of 118.0 in his rookie season. He only played one game in 2021 but allowed 109 yards, one touchdown, and a passer rating of 156.2.
