Green Bay Packers edge rusher Rashan Gary is a breakout candidate for the 2022 season.

Gary has the potential to put together a Pro Bowl season, but he is already one of the best young pass rushers in the league.

Player ratings for the “Madden NFL 23” video game are being released this week. On Tuesday, the edge rushers were announced.

Gary is the Packers’ top-rated edge rusher with an overall rating of 89. That is good for 15th at the position in the NFL.

If Gary can put together the type of season many expect of him, it shouldn’t be long until his overall rating moves into the 90s.

Myles Garrett of the Cleveland Browns is the NFL’s highest-rated edge rusher in the game. He is part of this year’s “99 Club” with a perfect 99 overall rating.

Along with the edge rushers, ratings for the inside linebackers and some of the defensive linemen were also revealed.

De’Vondre Campbell received an 87 rating coming off an All-Pro season. Preston Smith has an overall rating of 82.

Rookies Quay Walker and Devonte Wyatt start out with 73 overall ratings, which is about the standard for first-round picks.

The Packers’ lowest-rated edge rusher in the game is La’Darius Hamilton, who has a rating of 59 overall.

It’s unsurprising to see Gary and Campbell given high ratings, almost in the 90s.

Both players will be crucial to the success of the Packers’ defense this year. Campbell was a first-team All-Pro last season, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if Gary earned his first All-Pro honors this year.

Za’Darius Smith signed with the Minnesota Vikings this offseason, which means Gary becomes the Packers’ number one edge rusher.

He begins the 2022 season with a solid 89 overall rating on “Madden NFL 23”. Don’t be surprised if his rating at the end of the year is far higher.
