Packers: 5 players who are shining at training camp after one week
Five players who have shined in the opening week of Green Bay Packers training camp.
We’re already a week through the Green Bay Packers‘ training camp, and it has been an exciting one.
As expected, it has mostly been a week dominated by defense. But there have been some standout performers on both sides of the ball.
Let’s look at five players who are shining so far at training camp.
CB Rico Gafford
Keep a close eye on Rico Gafford, perhaps the Packers’ biggest surprise so far.
If Gafford keeps impressing, he could land a spot on the 53-man roster. He has made plays at cornerback and also on special teams.
Andy Herman of Packer Report has been impressed by Gafford.
Herman would later tweet that he is “very intrigued” by Gafford, noting that he could be the team’s CB5, while also playing various roles on special teams like kick returner and gunner.
With Gafford’s speed and previous experience at wide receiver, it will be interesting to see how many roles he could play for the Packers this season.
So far at training camp, the former undrafted free agent has been making plays no matter where he’s lined up. There’s a long way to go, but he’s off to an impressive start.
