Packers: 5 players who are shining at training camp after one week
WR Romeo Doubs
Green Bay’s offense has understandably found it tough playing a dominant defense at practice, but one of the standout performers has been rookie wide receiver Romeo Doubs.
The Packers need a collective effort from their wide receivers to replace Davante Adams, and Doubs’ start to the summer has been encouraging.
According to Albert Breer of The MMQB, Doubs has “turned heads” at training camp.
With Christian Watson and Sammy Watkins missing time due to injury, Doubs has had extra opportunities to get snaps with the first-team offense. So far, he’s made the most of it, particularly showing his ability to win 50/50 balls.
And one of those great catches came against Packers 2021 first-round pick Eric Stokes.
Doubs is a rookie, so expectations do need to be lowered somewhat. There will be mistakes along the way. To fully get on the same page as Aaron Rodgers, Doubs needs reps. That will come in time.
But the Packers couldn’t have asked for a better start from their fourth-round pick, especially while Watson is out of action.
If Doubs can continue his impressive start to training camp, he’ll turn his good play here into starting opportunities in the regular season.
It will be exciting to watch Doubs in the preseason.
