Five players to watch in the Packers’ opening preseason game versus the 49ers.

Are you ready for Green Bay Packers football? OK, it’s the preseason, but it’s Packers football nonetheless.

While wins and losses don’t count for anything this time of year and we won’t see much game time from the star players, there is still a lot to play for.

This is a huge opportunity for the players on the roster bubble to prove themselves, and for the rookies to get valuable reps.

Here are five players to watch in the Packers’ preseason opener this week.

5. WR Samori Toure

While most of the attention goes to rookie wide receivers Romeo Doubs and Christian Watson, don’t forget that Green Bay drafted three receivers this year.

Seventh-round selection Samori Toure was the star of the show at Family Night last week. ESPN’s Rob Demovsky noted that Toure “turned some heads” during the practice.

Toure is making a strong case for the Packers to keep an additional wide receiver on the roster. If he can continue his impressive training camp into the preseason, Green Bay won’t have any choice but to keep Toure on the initial 53 later this month.

Toure is a player to watch at San Francisco on Friday night.
