Which three Green Bay Packers players appear to be winning their positional battles at training camp?

Positional battles make training camp fascinating every year. This summer, there has been a lot to play for at Green Bay Packers training camp.

From running back to wide receiver to the offensive line to cornerback, there have been various positional battles this summer. Some are for starting positions, others backup spots.

As we near Green Bay’s second preseason game, some players already appear to be well ahead in their positional battles.

Here are three players who look to be on track to win their respective competitions.

Shemar Jean-Charles – Backup CB

We knew the Packers’ top three at cornerback entering training camp: Jaire Alexander, Eric Stokes, and Rasul Douglas.

The uncertainty came at the backup spots. Which cornerback would be next in line to start if one of the top three suffers an injury?

Second-year Shemar Jean-Charles looks on track to be the CB4.

Jean-Charles has consistently put in solid performances on the practice field, and he backed it up with an impressive showing in last week’s preseason opener.

While he will be primarily asked to play in the slot for the Packers, he also played snaps on the boundary against the 49ers. The box score only shows two tackles, but that’s because the ball rarely went in his direction. That’s what counts for cornerbacks.

Jean-Charles continues to impress, and the backup cornerback spot looks to be his.
