Packers: 3 takeaways from preseason win vs. Saints
2. Romeo Doubs impresses again
Death, taxes, and Romeo Doubs finding the end zone. Another week, another touchdown for the talented rookie wide receiver.
Doubs’ four-yard touchdown catch was a thing of beauty.
In total, the fourth-round pick made three catches for 24 yards and a score.
Sure, there were some mistakes along the way. According to Pro Football Focus, Doubs dropped two of five catchable passes on Friday evening.
It’s disappointing, but also something Doubs can fix. Davante Adams used to have drops issues as a young player.
What is far harder to teach is Doubs’ separation ability. He just finds ways to beat cornerbacks and get open. That will serve him well in his rookie season.
He has also repeatedly shown his ability to make contested catches. Doubs looks like the real deal, and he impressed again in the preseason.
Of course, there are rookie mistakes. He’ll need to work on these areas to fully gain Aaron Rodgers’ trust and become a regular starter in this offense. However, it’s clear he has sky-high potential.
Overall, this was another excellent night for the Packers’ fourth-round pick.
Doubs can make a huge difference for the Packers this season. It will be exciting to watch him when the real games get underway.
