Packers: Kylin Hill to PUP list, will miss opening four games
As expected, the Green Bay Packers will be without running back Kylin Hill for the opening four games of the regular season.
The Packers announced on Tuesday that they have placed Hill on the reserve/physically unable to perform list, which means he must miss the opening four games of the season.
This allowed the Packers to free up a roster space as they needed to get down to 80 players by today’s deadline.
Hill is recovering from a season-ending knee injury. He has been on the PUP list at training camp and hasn’t yet been cleared to return.
This move gives Hill some additional time to recover and make sure he’s fully healthy before returning this season.
In the meantime, rookie Tyler Goodson has been impressive over the summer and could be the choice to take over the RB3 role while Hill remains out.
Goodson has been consistent this summer and has also put in two strong performances in the preseason.
Green Bay has excellent depth at running back, and it will only get better once Hill returns from injury.
Hill played in eight games in his rookie season. On offense, he had 10 rushing attempts for 24 yards, while catching one pass for five yards.
Most of his snaps came on special teams. Hill returned 10 kicks for 199 yards, with an average of 19.9 yards per return. He had a long of 41 yards.
Hill’s ability on special teams makes him a valuable part of the roster. He also provides excellent depth at running back behind the starting duo of Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon.
With Hill on the reserve/PUP list, Green Bay must now decide how many running backs to keep on the initial 53-man roster. Who will join Jones and Dillon?
Goodson must be close to being a roster lock, but will the Packers keep only three running backs? Or will they go with four?
