The Green Bay Packers are going to win games differently this season as opposed to other years.

In the Mike McCarthy era and into the Matt LaFleur era, the Packers have been an offensive team. They lived and died on the shoulders of arguably the greatest quarterback of all time in Aaron Rodgers.

However, Davante Adams and Marquez Valdes-Scantling are gone.

The Packers have an elite defense. They also appear to have one of the best rushing attacks in the league.

This 2022 Packers squad looks very similar to the 2013 Seattle Seahawks.

In 2013, the Seahawks had Russell Wilson under center, a Pro Bowl running back in Marshawn Lynch, and the “Legion of Boom” defense.

They finished fourth in rushing that season and had the best defense in the league. They went 13-3 and blew the doors off of Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XLVIII.

Throughout NFL history, the strategy of running the ball at a high level and having an elite defense has proven to be quite successful. Look at the Seahawks.

Look at the 1985 Chicago Bears with Walter Payton and the “Monsters of the Midway” defense. Look at the 2000 Baltimore Ravens with a young Ray Lewis leading the way on defense and Jamal Lewis and Priest Holmes in the backfield. Those teams all went on to win the Super Bowl.

The Green Bay Packers have stars all over the field on defense.

Pro Bowl defensive tackle Kenny Clark, All-Pro linebacker De’Vondre Campbell, All-Pro cornerback Jaire Alexander, and a host of talented role players make this defense one of the best in the league.

Running backs Aaron Jones and A.J. Dillon both eclipsed over 1,100 scrimmage yards last season.

Jones is the only running back in the league besides Derrick Henry with over 4,000 scrimmage yards and at least 40 touchdowns over the last three seasons. Dillon led the team in rushing last season.

This team also has Aaron Rodgers throwing the football. The Super Bowl teams listed above certainly didn’t have a quarterback who had the talent and greatness of Rodgers.

If the Packers can get a decent level of production from their receivers, this team is undoubtedly going to be in Arizona in early February. They have the players and the formula that should end in a Super Bowl.
